Shutdown PC + USB attached peripherics

Hi,

Using Vista 32 bit. I have an external USB drive and a USB scanner. I would like for these devices to be shut down when I shutdown my PC. Any software out there that does this?

Turning them off by hand.

Im 95% sure you cannot have the computer turn those off. Sorry.

Or, you an replace your external devices with ones that draw power directly from the USB port they are connected to. The Canon LIDE20 and LIDE25 scanners are like that. They don't have an external power supply.

When the PC switches off, so does the scanner.

The Canon Pixma series printer also has an auto-shut off function in the printer properties page somewhere, but I've never used it, as my printer permanently remains off until I need it, then only do i switch it on...
