sharing xp printer very slow

i have my printer connected via usb to a xp desktop and have just got a new laptop
with vista 32bit home on it

filesharing and everything works great betwwen the 2, vista has the xp pc in its
network map and all is well that is untill i try and print something from vista


its so slow that is if it works at all most of the time what ever i click regarding the printer makes the program hang

try print a google page ie hangs
goto printer prefs it hangs

and so on


pulled out my old xp laptop installs the network and printer BANG working great
can anyone help i really need my network printer working correctly on vista

Hi Lee786,

Vista might be installing the XP drivers it finds on the XP machine when you connect Vista to the network printer, Have you tried installing the Vista specific drivers?

today i downloaded the vista drivers and installed them myself
then setup the printer ports as a network printer and BANG! near instant printing :D
