Sharing problem

Hi

I'm running vista home premuim on an acer 5837g. Recently due to a windows update my computer bluescreened and I had to use eRecovery to restore my machine. Once I'd done this i went to the temporary folder where my files had been backed up to only to find they were all unreadable
I found that sharing the files unlocked them and allowed me to use them but i had to do it to each individual file sharing the folder did nothing.
My problem is that my iTunes folder contains 4,753 folders with over 13,000 files spread out between them and I really don't want to have to go into each individual folder and share each file.
Is there anyway to share the folder and apply the change to all sub folders and files or is there another way around the problem. If any one knows it's driving me mad and i would really appreciate the help.

I'm not sure what you mean but if your referring to windows updates I updated the system as soon as I had it up and running again

Okay, let me get this right . You did a system restore and the files were then unreadable ? Can you go further back and get a good restore ?

Yes the files were unreadable until I changed the file sharing options then they could be read but if I share the folder the files are in nothing happens. I want to find a way to share the folder because there are just too many to go through one by one

Okay, are you sharing within a home workgroup ? Or , are you wanting to remote access share ?

It's a self contained laptop I connect to the Internet but not a network. The best way I can describe it is I'm trying to share the files with myself it says I don't have access to them I can do this one at a time but I'm looking for a way to do it to the folder containing all the files and apply the change to all sub folders and files
so I dont have to share them one by one

As Admin account , it should not be an issue. I wonder if you need to make another admin account to use ?
