sfsyns02.sys/Keyboard

Last night I was installing Worms 4, it told me I had to restart my PC after the installation, so I do, but when I restart I get a screen right after the boot menu that says it cannot "verify digital signature of this file." (sfsync02.sys) It then says at the bottom to hit either enter or esc, which would be great, except that my keyboard doesn't want to work on start up. It's always done this. It works fine once Windows has started (but I can't get it to start because I can't get past this screen), and it also works in the BIOS (but not the boot menu, or any of the other screens)

The error told me to repair the problem via my windows vista disc, which I tried, but it still takes me to the same screen and does not boot the vista disc in my disc drive.

I've read elsewhere that particular file has to do with preventing copy right infringement on games, but it was a legit copy of the game, so what gives?

Oh my keyboard plugs into the KB port and is not USB.

Hi, GJ1, and welcome to the forums.

First off, a couple of things.

If your KB is not a USB KB and it does not work in the Vista boot menu, something is wrong. You should look into getting a replacement KB.

If you Vista DVD is not booting, make sure the BIOS is set to boot the DVD device *before* the HD.

the sfsync02.sys file is a part of the anti pirating system used by some games to prevent people from making copies of games and giving them to their friends to play without paying for it more than once.

Read http://www.vistax64.com/vista-games/166634-prince-persia-two-thrones-bsod-sfsync02-sys.html to see why you're having issues.

I tried another keyboard and that one wouldn't even let me into the BIOS.

when I set it to boot from the CDROM, I can't do anything, because I have to hit a button to get it to boot.

Now that I've switched out ekeyboards a few times, the initial one won't even let me into the BIOS.

I managed to get a key board working, but now, it cycles between two errors on start up (the sfsync and the windows error recovery) if I try to proceed from the sfsync error into windows, it takes me back to the windows error recovery and from there, back to sfsync... Even if I try to start in safe mode.

hmmm, it may be time to try a USB KB (I have used two KBs simultaneously, one USB that did not work in BIOS, and one PS/2, that did, whenever I needed to get into the BIOS - but I would keep the PS/2 KB unplugged until I needed to go into the BIOS.

From there you should be able to get something working.

As for why it is not working in the Vista menu, that is a new one on me - it sounds like it might be time to get that USB KB as I was saying and run that error recovery console from the DVD....
