Im running window home premium vista with amd x2 and i have :
Windows Defender
Zone Alarm Extreme security with ForceField
AVG Anti Virus
Spybot search and destroy

They are all updated however im still getting potentially serious cookies and one high risk found by AVG. Even with all these security measures i still find myself with potentially dangerous spyware. Can any please tell me is there anything else i can use or do to stop this happening.

thanx

It could be because you are running 2 anti virus programs so they are conflicting with each other.

The only way to really stop getting any of these things is to not go on the Internet:p

Seriously though cookies in general are not dangerous they are only small files that web sites place to show you've been there before and if you're not doing anything dodgy they are no threat.

If you are really worried by them I'd look at the sites where you go surfing and see if there are any that you don't really need to go too.

I second Joan Archers advice on running 2 security suites side by side - that is no good. But even with one good security suite like Norton IS09, Kaspersky IS09 or Nod32 you will get cookies. Normal cookies are harmless. Tracking cookies need to be watched. I recommend to run SAS ( SUPERAntiSpyware.com | Remove Malware | Remove Spyware - AntiMalware, AntiSpyware, AntiAdware! ) from time to time. That will eliminate the tracking cookies - it is more thorough than Spybot.
For the normal cookies, type SHELL:COOKIES into the start/search field and hit Enter. That will bring up the cookie folder. There you can delete the cookies you do not want and keep the ones you want (e.g. the ones that keep your log-in information for websites you visit frequently).

Remove one of your anti virus applications via control panel - programs - programs & features - uninstall a prog.
Then run the applicable uninstall tool to make sure that any remnants are removed.
AVG - http://www.avg.com/download-tools
Zone Alarm - See Clean Removal Section -
ZoneAlarm® Australia by Check Point® - Award winning PC Protection, Antivirus, Firewall, Anti-Spyware, Identity Protection, and much more distributed by SecureTec.

As whs recommended, SuperAntiSpware is a very good program with a helpful forum & excellent support.

Have a look at Spyware Blaster also -
SpywareBlaster® | Prevent spyware and malware. Free download.

Please let us know how you go.
