this pc is a temporary build till I build a new one - my original was stolen. I am using an Asus K8S - Mx with a built on Soundmax live audio using Vista Premium 32 bit.
I have downloaded drivers from Asus and seemingly accepted although under drivers it says Windows 32.
In control panel, device manager and tool bar, all say the audio is working, no conflicts, no problems with the driver, no sign of problems. The speakers work with a different pc.
I still have no sound. I read through forums and tried then deleted other drivers. I disabled, deleted and rebooted. Still no sound.
My only conclusion is there is a problem with the motherboard. My question is if this is so, if the motherboard was bad, would it show the sound as a working audio? Seems to me if the motherboard had a problem, it would show no audio at all but then my knowledge is severely limited. Anyone out there got a suggestion or fix. Sure would appreciate help

    this is an emergency build out of mainly used parts. My pc was stolen and this is till I build a new one
No sound - not sure why it happened, as I do the same thing everyday with my lap top in terms of work and play.

here's what fixed the problem for me;

Open the Sound icon in control panel;
Select Speakers - then properties
Under the Advanced tab - there is a section called Exclusive Mode
Uncheck the box - that allows applications to take exclusive control of this device

This should restore the sound

Not sure how or why this happened - but what a pain

hope that helps

My Computer

Hello,
I think i have a problem such like this and i can't fix it. I already read several threads about this.
Till yesterday, it works fine. Then I make a pause, 2 hours later I start my pc again and nothing, no sounds will be play. In Audio Manager the back panel is grayed out and it didnt detect when I insert a plug or reverse. So far there will be a message that a plug is insertet and i could choose the kind of output (front, rear, mic, etc.). But now - nothing.

Hope you can help and sorry for my englisch ;)
