runtime error messages

I recently lost power to my computer ( and home by the way ) and when the computer came back up I recieved something about "runtime error message".
The rest of my computer works alright, but while doing certain task I will get the "error message" again. I recently tried to access a business site and got the "run time error message "800a01a8", object required/1 contedview.asp,line 283. I didn't have these problems before I lost power. Could someone help me with this? Thank you very much.

Try another browser (such as the free Firefox here: Mozilla | Firefox web browser & Thunderbird email client )
Do you still get the errors with that?

After submitting my question above, I was moved to another page. On this page I was prompted to use the "Scan program", "Free Vista Error Scan" that could help my computer etc... in 2 minutes. Is this a legitimate site? The site does not seem to come up now that I'm logged on. Thanks for the help. I'm kinda of cautious about opening up sites I'm not sure about.... It only comes up when I log off....
