running a 32 bit on a 64 bit pc

i need to run a scan through my pc but it will only run on 32 bit , how do i change from 64 bit to 32 bit

What do you mean "run a scan"? The operating system is 64 bit, and you can't simply change it, and if you want to do so, you should downgrade your OS from 64 bit to 32 bit with a clean windows 32 bit installation.

im having trouble with a virus and i need to run a piece of scan software via internet explore to get it sorted but the software is only meant for 32bit and fails to complete on 64 bit

it should work fine mate , is it because you are using the 64 bit version of internet explorer? if you run the 32 bit version it might work , im just guessing here my 64 bit machine is switched off i cant test right now
