Roxio EMC10 install

Has anyone had problems like these and finally got Roxio EMC10 to install correctly on Vista?

1. I am running Vista Home Premium 32 bit on desktop PC with 4gb memory and lots of disk.
2. It does have a TV turner board for handling cable TV input.
3. I have Roxio EMC9 which works fine.
4. I downloaded Roxio RMC10 and have had several problems. Each time, Roxio support provided more and more detailed install instructions, the last one being to completely rebuild my hard drive with the original PC system restore disks--that would wipe everything: Office, Print support, Vista releases and updates, etc. This does not seem a good thing to try and has no guarantee even if I do.

Install symptoms.
After removing all Roxio and Soxic files, cleaning registry, removing all 'non-essential' software that I could think of, stopping all startups, creating a new user ID just for the install, getting a newer download, unzipping the download to a directory so the install could better find the files needed, I execute the install and it goes to end of job. This was encouraging, but still not successful.

When I try to run Roxio Home, which just brings up the main screen with all the tools available, the system tries to install Data, Video, Audio and Tools options.
Each attempt seems to run 3 times. Each attempt seems to fail. It looks like a tape problem from the old tape days where a tape would 'shoe shine' trying to read. It tries to install 3 times, gives up and goes onto the next tool attempt.

When finished, the Roxio home screen does come up and lists all the options available.
When I pick one, such as MyDVD or the picture handler, it states windows shut it down and to contact the software technical people for support.

Has anyone experienced a similare problem and gotten Roxio EMC10 to install on Vista?
