restoring (some) recycle bin icons in system32 imagesres.dll

hi...i inadvertenly deleted recycle bin from desktop by mistake...didn't realize that it was a shortcut...now when i go to replace that shortcut from the desktop icon settings box those icons are gone...anyway to bring those icons back or do i have to replace the imagesres.dll located in the system32 folder?...copying that .dll from another vista computer, same model, same brand...is it possible to do it that way...? or does anyone know a website where this .dll is offered for sale or for free...have tried numerous web tools to know avail...recovery disc bundled in sony vaio laptop....could repair c drive to orignal factory..leaving my installed software...but not everything i've done in regards to how i want the desktop to look, etc... barring all that is there anyway to make the recycle bin shortcut on the desktop undeletable? many thanks, in advance....

Hi mukooh,

Here are a couple of Tutorials that might help you. If the first one doesn't work, repeat it after you have carried out the instructions in the second. In your case, you could try entering the following at Section 5 c) in this Tutorial: 'sfc /scanfile=C:\Windows\System32\imageres.dll'.

Firstly, your reply should have gone here, so I am quoting it (slightly edited).

In your post in regards to my problems with the above dll..
you posted:

I get the following message:

windows resource could not perform the requested
operation

I am the administrator

I think this is about the only second time I've run cmd prompts in my whole computing experience..

Btw had no trouble running command
sfc /verifyonly

Thanks for your prior help, perhaps you can tell me what I'm doing wrong in this instance...tried researching on google and I'm still baffled..

Try again, this time using an ELEVATED command prompt (see Option Two in the Tutorial).
