Restore to out of box

Hi
I decided to restore my Toshiba L300 laptop to out of box due to all sorts of blue screens, freezes and shut downs. I managed to delete everything on the hard drive using the recovery. When asked to insert recovery disks to restore software did so and it ejected the disk and asked for the next disk which I inserted. Again it ejected and asked for the next disk so I inserted the third disk and again the same. It keeps asking for the next disk. I am using Vista so thought maybe the recovery disks did not copy so tried to install Windows XP instead. It loaded but when it says it is about to start I get a blue stop error screen. It does not shutdown though. I have wiped the hard drive again. I have tried starting while pressing F8 it doesn't work. I have tried turning off computer, holding down 0 while turning it on again. It starts the restore but won't read the vista recovery disks. Not sure if the DVD is only reading intermittently. If I start the computer I get the Toshiba innovations screen then it goes black with BootManager Missing message, press Ctl ALT DEL to restore. If you do this it just comes back to the same screen. Not sure what to do. Any ideas much appreciated. Thanks

Hi,

I would suggest that you start again & re-format the disk.

Then when you do the restore form the manufacturers recovery disks & you have used all you have, press cancel to stop the disk loader from asking for more.

Please note: - This will not cancel the process but stop the asking!

It should then reboot & continue the install as normal.

Try that & post back. OK?

Hi
Thanks for your help. I followed your instructions and cancelled after the third disk was ejected. The computer turned itself off. I turned it on, got the Toshiba innovations screen then it went to black with a BOOTMGR MISSING message in top left corner followed by Press Ctrl Alt Del to reboot. Did that and it just comes back to the same screen again. Did read somewhere that this message could mean the motherboard is not reading the Hard Drive or that either the motherboard is dead or the hard drive is. Not sure if this information is right? Could it be time for a new laptop?
