Reset Password

Hello,

I have read a million posts of parents like myself, (locked out of only admin acct.). I can access two standard user accts. My question would be "Can I use safemode with networking to access machine admin acct?". If it is possible, can I reset my admin pass to access all my files? I have frantically tried everything i have seen on the net. At this point after a week, I am exhausted not even knowing exactly what i'm doing, knowing than I ever wanted to know about vista. Help please

No, you would not be able to access it like that.

Method Three in this tutorial will show you how to reset your password so you can gain access again though.

Thank you for your welcome, I have already printed these instructions. I seem to be frozen in indecision about step three, do I have bitlocker encryption? concerned I will lose all my files in my admin acct. Also what about msconfig,regedit,or if I have not screwed it uo activate machine admin, can I change admin acct pasword?

I am a newbie and I am concerned about downloading afile that will invade my computer.

If you do not know if you have bitlocker encryption, then you most likely do not have it enabled. You would of had to set this up manually for you to have it. It is not enabled by default in Vista.

I understand your concern about how safe it is, but I can verify that it will not do anything else to your computer other than reset the password back to not having one.
