Reporting error messages to msoft

Whenever a error occurs in the vista OR XP for that matter and a box pops up telling you there was a error with whatever.exe file and if offers to let to let you see the error message created to send to microsoft...normally gobbledygook with hexidecimal stuff thrown in.

What happens when Microsoft receive this stuff ? Do they know which computer it came from and how is it going to help me fix it?

Lazarus,

The Error Reporting service sends Microsoft all of the error details along with your computer id information. If (IF) they have a update for it, they will notify you through either a Windows Update or in Problems Reports and Solutions in the Control Panel. I do not know of anyone that actually received a solution back though. It would be faster probably to post the error here with as much details as possible. Someone may know of the solution.
