Solved Replacement CD ?

OK...my loving son, just 15mins ago just decided to play with a "shiny thing" that happened to be my store bought copy of Vista64 Ultimate. It now has a great looking crack in it

I have the case with the certificate of authenticity and the product key on the yellow sticker, will MS replace it (if there is a shipping fee thats fine). I dident buy it directly from MS, got it from Ofice Depot I think many months ago. I did register with MS when I first installed it, so they can verify its me.

Why not create your own Vista O/S imaged disk with full windows backup? If the cracked disk still works create an ISO image of it and burn it to a dvd.

Hadent thought of that...........but would that also give me the recover option and repair options ?

Just do a full Windows backup as mentioned it's much less effort and more secure

no advanced recovery features.... try iso imaging of disk

More secure ? Uh...ok, not quite sure how. Guess I will just call MS and see about a replacement disk.

I am not sure a full backup (which I have BTW) would give me the repair options that a boot disk has.

I have CD/DVD Burning software, but not sure what youre suggesting I make a ISO of. Anyway, just gonna call MS support see what they say. Worst case, I will buy a OEM disk, and use my own serial.

an iso is a disk image. create a disk copy of your damaged disk if it is still readable.

I know what a ISO is, but its not readable.....its damaged pretty bad, but MS Verified my serial and for 9.99 S/H gonna send me a new one.
