Hello, earlier today I took out my RAM on my PC and I put it in backwards by mistake and might have messed it up, now whenever I boot my PC it says "windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing, or corrupt." I tried the"repair your computer" function by booting the Vista Installation CD and it says loading windows files but then I get "the selected enry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt." oxc0000001. And it wont let me choose the language and repair your computer. Is this because the RAM is messed up now or is it something else? Thanks for everyones help!

I had a similar message the other day after a failed Overclock. The good news is that your registry is fine and you most likely won't need to repair your installation. (In my case I lowered the OC and then Windows started fine.)

I don't know how you managed to put the RAM in backwards  :p Did you use a lot force?

Remove the RAM, check for damage on the gold connectors and then re-seat your RAM again and make sure that it's in properly. After re-seating, check in BIOS to see if it's being reported correctly. Unless you've damaged something, Windows should load fine.

Good luck :)

+1 on the "Putting your RAM backwards", it is almost impossible to do.

Re adjust and make sure you set your BIOS to default and clear your Cmos. Also, if you have 2 HDD's, make sure the one with the OS is the first one to boot.
