I am a domain admin on a small air base. My office in charged asked me and one of my superiors to go to each computer and disable USBSTOR inside the regedit.
Well, that isn't a problem at all. The main issue is that the superior I went with decided to Deny the Read option inside the System folder permissions. (Right click SYSTEM -> permissions -> Everyone -> Full Control -> Deny (automatically makes Read checked as Deny as well)
Does anyone know how to possibly get to change the Regedit with out being able to get into the system? When we boot, it goes through full boot process. But it stops at a black screen where the login screen would be with a mouse icon and nothing else. Can't start in safemode, gets the same result of a black screen. The person the computer (laptop) belongs to does not want to lose any of the information stored on the hard drives. So we would like to not reimage and start fresh if at all possible.
