still get a message "Recycle Bin on C:\ is corrupted. Do you want to empty the Recycle Bin for this drive?" Dialogue box appears saying Deleting 4 items (91.3MB) When actually there are no files appearing in the Recycle Bin. Under the Heading it says "$Recycle.Bin (C:\$Recycle.Bin) Discovered 0 items (0 bytes).... and the bar showing per cent of completion begins and 1/3 of the way to finiishing another Dialogue box appears that says "the action cannot be completed because the file is open in another program" which there are no other programs running and the next line says "Close the file and try again". There are no files in use to close but the file that is shown in the dailogue box is a Quickbooks file which is a file that resembles no Quickbooks file I have ever seen.

Hello Dinesh,

See if toggling it on and off may help. Also check the TIP box at the top of this tutorial to see if any of it may apply to you. If all of that fails, try a restart.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

Hi you all

Here's another nice trick to create the Recycle Bin in a folder of your choice.

First create a new folder... ( Give it a name of your choice )
then add the following string after the given folder name :
.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}
For example : MyBin.{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

Note that there's a period (dot or full stop) between MyBin and {645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}

When you click this folder ( MyBin ), the Recycle Bin will open.
It also gives you a lot of options in the right click menu which you normally don't have for the Recycle Bin.

Sweet

(You can create as many Recycle Bins at any location of your choice with this operation)

While we're at it, lets have some more fun.
Paste the code below in Notepad, and save it "Save As..." as CreateRbin.vbs
If you click the file CreateRbin.vbs, you can easily create a Recycle Bin.

Code:
RclBn()
Sub RclBn()
On Error Resume Next
Set objNetwork = CreateObject("WScript.Network")
    UsrNm = objNetwork.UserName
Rbn = InputBox _
    ("Hi " & UsrNm & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & _
    "To create the Recycle Bin in this folder," & vbCrLf & _
    "Enter a name like this :    MyBin" & vbCrLf & _
    "Don't use quotes " & "(" & Chr(34) & Chr(34) & ")" & _
    " in the name."& vbCrLf & vbCrLf & _
    "If you want to create the file in another location," & vbCrLf & _
    "then enter the path to the location," & vbCrLf & _
    "where the file should be created." & vbCrLf & _
    "Like this :    C:\Program Files\MyBin" & vbCrLf & _
    "Don't use quotes " & "(" & Chr(34) & Chr(34) & ")" & " in the path.", _
    " Create Recycle Bin",, ,0)
If Rbn = "" Then
    Set Rbn = Nothing
    Set objNetwork = Nothing
    Set UsrNm = Nothing
    WScript.Quit
End If
Set Fso = CreateObject("Scripting.FileSystemObject")
Set StrF = Fso.CreateFolder( Rbn & ".{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}")
If Fso.FolderExists ( Rbn & ".{645FF040-5081-101B-9F08-00AA002F954E}") Then
    CreateObject("WScript.Shell").Popup vbCrLf & "Done", 1, " Check", 4096 + 64
    Set objNetwork = Nothing
    Set UsrNm = Nothing
    Set Rbn = Nothing
    Set Fso = Nothing
    Set StrF = Nothing
Else
If MsgBox _
    ("Sorry " & UsrNm & vbCrLf & vbCrLf & _
    "The path you've entered does not exist,     " & vbCrLf & _
    "please try again." _
    , 4096 + 48 + vbRetryCancel + vbDefaultButton1, " oops") = 4 Then
    Set objNetwork = Nothing
    Set UsrNm = Nothing
    Set Rbn = Nothing
    Set Fso = Nothing
    Set StrF = Nothing
    RclBn()
Else
    Set objNetwork = Nothing
    Set UsrNm = Nothing
    Set Rbn = Nothing
    Set Fso = Nothing
    Set StrF = Nothing
    WScript.Quit
End If
End If
End Sub

It even lets you create a nameless Recycle Bin.
Just type a space,
or when you specify a path, don't type anything after the last backslash.
Like this C:\Program Files\
