Hi, I have a problem with my recycle bin. When I delete a file I am not seeing it in the recycle bin but it is there and I can restore it. The recycle also shows full on the desktop.

If you open the recycle bin and press <F5> to refresh, does the bin listing show correctly?

This was a common problem that I encountered several times. Since installing SP1 I have not had this problem.

Do you have SP1 installed?

I pressed F5 in the bin and I still don't see anything. I have sp1 as well.

If I understand you correctly, the bin works correctly, but you cannot see the deleted file. Try going to change icon and reset it to one that correctly shows the status at the time of change, ie full or empty.

I tried method 1 and it didn't work. Then I went on to method 2 and I discovered that I am not seeing the $RECYCLE.BIN folder when I show hidden files.

Did you also uncheck Hide protected operating system files ?


If so, see if refreshing the window or desktop does not show it. If not, then restart the computer to have that file rebuild itself automatically.

My recycle bin is still not working properly and the situation has become worse. When I delete a file I am not seeing it in the recycle bin and I am not seeing it showing full on the desktop. I can only undo delete .

Since that did not help, you might consider a System Restore using a restore point dated before you had this Recycle Bin problem to see if it can fix it for you.

shweew...Finally I did the system restore and my Recycle bin is back to normal. Thanks for the assistance Brink, I really appreciate it.
