I saw your other post where you described the original issue and I'm curious about something: have you ever (successfully) used this particular SD card to its stated capacity in the past? In other words, if the card is say 8GB, have you ever filled it to 6 or 7 and managed to pull all of that down to your disk afterwards?

Unfortunately, a lot of the cards sold online (*cough*eBay*cough*) are pure fakes done to varying standards. Some put a "Sandisk" sticker on a no-name card of the same capacity, while others have a batch of 256MB cards left over that got firmware "augmentations" to read as 2GB formatted capacity. Most of their customers never understand why they cant seem to put more than 11 photos on the camera before they run out of room, but they fear they'd look too dumb to ask so they just live with it.

If you've purchased the card from anyplace but a big reputable store, and this is the first time you used it, you may unfortunately have a dud.

i bought from amazon

and it does store the files cause I can access them on the camera so they are on there, but one thing is I can't use them anymore b/c its messed up now

so does anyone know any software that can do the above?

If your camera can read the data on the card without fail, then chances are the card is fine- you do not have the hardware on your computer to read the data that is your problem.
You state you have a 16 gig transcend SDHC card- Your computer does not have the Hardware/firmware needed to read such a card-due to a compatability issue.

Only SDHC cards are able to have capacities larger than 4GB. A change in the format, however, while allowing capacities greater than 4 GB (SDHC), has created compatibility issues with older devices that cannot read the new format. The fact that SDHC format cards have the same physical shape and form factor as the older format has caused considerable confusion for consumers. SDHC cards require SDHC-capable device firmware generally not found with older devices

I suggest you take your card to a Kiosk in walmart, Walgreens, Picture/photo processing store, or to a Kinko copy store and use their SD/SDHC card readers to transfer your data to disk/thumbdrive, etc.

Consider a SDHC card reader-You might also consider dropping by Bestbuy and seeing if one of those SD/SDHC readers can retrieve the data for you. (I would try it on a floor model-before you think about a new reader. You may be able to take Thumbdrive/DL DVD's and transfer the data)

Just to chime in here for a moment.

What the poster is saying is the files appear to be corrupted and is looking for a recovery program, which I have no suggestions. Sorry. However, If the files aren't/weren't corrupted they could just connect the camera to the computer and read/import the files from there...thus using the camera as a card reader; or, as suggested, use an "SDHC" reader.

At any rate the main problem is the "messed up" files.

Just clarifying things.

If you don't have it, you might try installing QuickTime since .mov is its native format.

Best way to recover video, .mov, files from damaged sd card is use of data recovery software. Try to use any good data recovery software. These software will do th needful. All you have to do is to follow the simple instruction given by the software.

Please make sure that first you try the free (demo) version of the product. This version can show the recoverable data but could not recover it. If demo version shows your data, only then opt for the software.
