Record Sound from computer.HELP.

First of all,WOW. This is a very nice place. Well done administrators.
Well to begin with i would like to say that i am a new user here and i dont know if this question had been previously asked so sorry.
well i have a problem.
My OS is Vista x89 Ultimate with all the recent updates, and my problem is that i dont know how to record sound in Vista.
I knew how to do it on XP with a very simple software like JetAudio, but on Vista its a bit confusing.
To become more clear. I dont want to record from a microphone but from the computer itself. eg some sites that play music. i would like to know how to do such a thing.
Please help.

Recording sound directly from the computer got blocked out by the new USA-DRM laws so Microsoft removed the functionality, There are some audio applications capable of doing this but they are/can be illegal in most country's

Well the software I have in mind isn't illegal..its freeware and is also listed in the Free Software list on the forums....

That's two clues now.

However, breaching copyright is not good.

hmm...... Its the 7th program on the link below, its only one of the hundreds of programs capable of doing this but they are not open-source, adware-clean and free like Audacity

Ow and by the way, for all you people out there...
We all know that illegal stuff is not allowed by the law, but we all know that "Illegal" stuff is always sweeter, I personally hate breaching copyrights and i know that these hackers that made these programs (and i am not talking only about the Audacity, that includes every program), want their job to be accepted and to be paid, but think of those who are not capable of buying expensive software! Just that.
Anyway thank you all for helping me.

I use MP3 Recorder Studio, works pretty good on Vista. It can record audio from only one source like microphone or just all "what you hear"

You can test it out by yourself is Streaming music recorder. Once you play the sound being played on your computer, click record on the software. A few minutes later or so, you will be able to record streaming audio. This will surely come in handy.

I really like Polderbits for this task. I have converted my 33 1/3 records to .mp3 files for burning to a CD. I also have captured some music from various sites including You Tube.
I use PolderBits to record and edit. It will record anything that you can hear through your computer's speakers,

Go to Control Panel, open "Sound," and then right-click on the white space in the box that pops up. You'll see the "Show Disabled Devices" and "Show Disconnected Devices options." Now check them both.
Now when you click on the “Recording” tab, you will see the complete list of all the recording devices that are currently installed on your system that are not enabled. Click on your sound card’s icon to select it and then click on “set as default.”
Now click OK to close out Control Panel and you should be able to record with your sound card. You need a program to record with though.
