RAM question

Hi all,

i have a HP pavilion dv6314 laptop. it has vista ultimate x 64 bit version, sp1 on it. i have upgraded it's RAM to 4gb but i could only see 3069 mb being used in the task manager. but in the laptop's property it does show 4 gb memory.

my question is what happed to that exta 1 gb memory, is it lost???? or there is something wrong????

I have updated the BIOS to the latest version from the HP website.

onboard graphics card taking 1GB?
I don't know the laptop's specs so I could be wrong...

Sounds like your system thinks it is using a 32 bit system, not 64. This would explain a 3GB limit. As to why that would happen... dunno.

Besides all of above, check the spec to see if there a limit on handling rams. Some older models had a limitation, but not sure about the new ones.
