RAM diff timing

hi guys, i need your help.:mad::mad:
i am running a vista 64 bit sp1 in 4gb 800mhz(2x2gb stick).
i have a patriot RAM in 5-5-5 15 timings. it run smoothly and i have no prob.
my cousn gave me another RAM. 2gb (2x1gb stick) of Corsair also 800mhz but different timings ( 4-4-4 12).
After i plug the Corsair RAM my pc boot w/ no prob. i check it if vista recognize my another 2 gb of RAM for the total of 6gb of my computer RAM. and yes welcome center recognized it.\
but after a while. i play some videos and BOOM, blue screen of death appear. i didnt catch the error code. the pc reboot. but when ever i played some video, bluescreen of death appear again. do you think that different timings of RAM affect it. but both RAM have same 800mhz. what do you think. i need you advise.

Take it back out and see if the game continues to have issues - if it does, then you need to look elsewhere (Windows Updates, game updates, corrupted files, etc) if it does not then yes, I would suspect the RAM.

the patriot & corsair may have different default voltage requirements...

one set may be over or under volted... you need to manually set the VDIMM & timings
then use this app to stress them till you find a stable setting

ORTHOS

select PRIORITY 8 ..blend stress cpu & ram....i prefer this to memtest
memtest has been known to miss errors or go 4 passes then fail (after waiting god knows how long).
orthos will show errors in seconds...;)

BTW, last time i add my ram before this corsair, 2gb(2x1g patriot) of my previous memory failed. same brand same mhz and timing. thats why i only have 4gb RAM on my pc. i will sue patriot co:sarc:. hehehehe:mad:

Google both kits. Read the technical specs from the manufacturer's site, then find out what the memory can really do. Read any hit that pertains to overclocking and find out what the max voltage both kits can safely run at. Some memory just does not like a lot of voltage, others love it. You're going to need to know this in order to get stable.

As a rule of thumb, I have read and experianced that trying to mix differnt RAM is more of a problem than it is worth. Hassle/problems vs benefit, I would think you would not get much gain from 4g to 6g vs possible unstable system. Just my 2 cents...

Only use matching RAM. It removes one potenital problem in the future. Return it or get more matching sticks.
