I have noticed that there is always over 100 guests viewing the General Discussion here. If they happen to be viewing, and they find the content here quite interesting, why don't they JOIN?

Has it ever occured to them to JOIN the Vista Forums instead of VIEWING it everyday? If just 30% if the viewers would actually JOIN Vista Forums, wouldn't Vista Forums grow quickly?

Also, if the viewers JOIN, then they can get almost immediate help/support when they need it. It is also a great place to discuss off topic things (The Chillout Room) if they need to.

Who agrees?

Perhaps this is a good place to share my story on how I began participating in these forums...

I've always referred to these forums (via Google mostly), and eventually realized that all my issues had always been resolved reading the solutions here (with loads of help from Brink's huge tutorial library!). It became so much so, that I was looking for search results specifically from vistax64.com. Then, doom arrived, and my computer had an incurable symptom of freezing and it was undiagnosable! I decided it was a good first time to ask for help on an online forum. The help was swift, and my problem was resolved, even though I was demanding quite some patience. I was inspired, and now I try to help out as much as I can. Today I wear a Skilled badge proudly and hope I can help others as was given to me.

Yeah... Heartwarming, isn't it? If you're not tearing already, I just want to say that this is the bestest online community I've ever encountered. I couldn't agree more with Ojaser - JOIN!!! You won't regret it!

I would agree with what has been said to date.
We could add the friendliness that exists between forum members, the careful supervision & excellent management of the forum, our generous knowledge sharing MVP, the badge reward system etc. It all contributes to a happy extra curricular, loyal working environment. I think it is unique.
Well done all.

I think that it's highly unlikely that they will find an answer to their problem when they didn't ask it. And to ask it, they have to join the forum. :p

Joining Vista Forums is done voluntarily!!

I have noticed that there is always over 100 guests viewing the General Discussion here. If they happen to be viewing, and they find the content here quite interesting, why don't they JOIN?
AND ...... it costs nothing to join.
What a deal.

Hey Guys,

Let's not forget that the "Viewers" are "Guests", and as such are most welcome to freely 'view' all that goes on [with a couple of exceptions] at Vista Forums [or at Windows SevenForums for that matter].

Remember too, that if someone decides to join Vista Forums, then it is an act done without coercion, in a voluntary manner, and many times they 'the Newbies' are welcomed in as Members.

More often than not, a Member joins as an act of sheer desperation, having failed elsewhere to get any resolution to problems that may have been plaguing them for days, and sometimes weeks.

It is the understanding and assistance freely given, which they, 'the Newbies' receive in their desperation, that often leads to them also becoming valuable Members of our community, where with time, they too contribute in assisting others.

So please, put away the begging bowls. All arm-twisting ever did was cause bruises. ;)

Re: Joining Vista Forums is done voluntarily!!

Hey Guys & Girls
Let's not forget that the "Viewers" are "Guests", and as such are most welcome to freely 'view' all that goes on [with a couple of exceptions] at Vista Forums [or at Windows SevenForums for that matter].
True, I'm sure we are all aware.
Remember too, that if someone decides to join Vista Forums, then it is an act done without coercion, in a voluntary manner, and many times they 'the Newbies' are welcomed in as Members.
Coercion, I hope, was not the intent.
[Excessive youthful exuberance more likely.]
More often than not, a Member joins as an act of sheer desperation, having failed elsewhere to get any resolution to problems that may have been plaguing them for days, and sometimes weeks.
Agreed.
It is the understanding and assistance freely given, which they, 'the Newbies' receive in their desperation, that often leads to them also becoming valuable Members of our community, where with time, they too contribute in assisting others.
I concur.
So please, put away the begging bowls. All arm-twisting ever did was cause bruises. ;)
Bowls returned to the Hare Krishna community.

Are we forgiven dear, sweet & wise sassofalco ? ;);););););)

i was a long time "viewer" of this forum before i joined , it helped me alot in my early vista days , i always found what i needed via the search function

when i felt i had something to contribute i joined up and started trying to help , i look over them every day now mainly picking on problems that have had no reply's , i dont see the point in interfering in a thread that already has 3 or 4 members trying to help it just gets confusing for the thread poster ............ and sometimes bad advice annoys me ;)

Would you step in with an alternate approach to the problem at this stage?
