QDNBJ is compressed??

When I powered on my Vista 32bit laptop, I received this strange message:

"QDNBJ is compressed"

Then this message tells me to press Ctrl Alt Del to restart. So I did, and I get the same message again after restarting it.

A few day ago, my laptop was working fine. The last time I used it, I remember turning it off properly.

I can get into the BIOS, but that's about it. My laptop won't boot up to the OS.

Not sure what this message means. :sarc:

Please help.

I can't even go into Safe Mode.

BIOS boots up, and then that message displays right after.

I just remember what might have caused this issue. Last week, I was cleaning out the C: drive, and I decided to compress the data on it. Must have compressed something that shouldn't have been compressed.

Will re-installing the OS work in this case?

If it is problem with the Operating System, which I think that it is, a reinstall will work.

Thank you very much for your quick responses, richc46.

Greatly appreciate the help.

I'm just glad I remember what I did.

I'm 90% sure that re-installing the OS should work (BIOS works fine, and reads the harddrive).

I just think it's a strange issue with my laptop (ever since I had to re-format the drive, long ago).

Funny thing is that this laptop is the last non-Win7 laptop in my house. Got rid of my XP laptop (was way too slow and the hardware was starting to wear out [bunch of lines on the screen]).

The only issues I have had with Win 7 laptops were caused by some of the security updates from Windows Updates (caused my laptop to not power off completely).

Update:

Here is a video to how my Vista laptop would boot up:

At the moment, Vista is being installed (completing installation stage).
