Thanks Bassfisher for sharing this.

But I have few opinions about it. What's the point in using the case from the big hard drive if we can use any other plastic box that should do the same, I mean...it will hide the hub and the flash drives inside. I'm sure such setup would look nicer than just bare 3.5' drive sitting on the table.

The second is, why can we use stock flash card and /or pendrive with 32GB or more capacity? They also will use the USB port to connect to the system, right? They already look great, they are small and fit into any modern system. I think they cost almost the same as the needed components in this project. And what's most important we don't have do anything, they are ready to use from the box.

Thanks bassfisher, I'm certainly going to try this as I have a 10GB HD in my garage.

EDIT: I jumped in too quick, if I go through this project I'll be spending £46 for a meagre 20GB,my 10GB HD deserves to go to skip:D
