Problems with uninstalling some programs

Hi

Ive been having a few problems with uninstalling some programs via the add/remove programs tool. For example I have been trying to uninstall Itunes and everytime I do Windows installer says it is preparing to remove and then it stops and a window come up that says "The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation." and then another one says I do not have sufficient access to uninstall Itunes and to please contact system administrator.

So I spoke to a friend how recommended this forum subject and I followed the Take Ownership steps a few times but to no avail it still does the same thing. I can't update Itunes untill this one is uninstalled!!!!!

Please Help Me!!!!

Hi Dibdab, Welcome to the Forum.

Try this,

  1. Make sure that iTunes and the iPod Updater utility are not open.
  2. On your keyboard press Control-Alt-Delete. Select Start Task Manager.
  3. Click on the Processes tab.
  4. Locate the iPodService.exe in the list.
  5. Click on iPodService.exe and choose End Process.
  6. Quit the Task Manager.
Then try to uninstall Itunes

    I have also used Fedora, Suse, Ubuntu Linux And all other Windows from 95 to date except ME
If the steps which Pooch provided won't help, download the Revo Uninstaller Portable | Portable USB Pen Drive Applications. It is the portable version of software that you will not have to install, unzip it to any location you want. With this tool you will be able to uninstall and get rid of any traces of the iTunes manually, just be very careful what you do.

Ok I have tried uninstalling it after ending the processes and still didnt work so gonna try one of the other options.

Ok guys have finally managed to uninstall it with MyUninstall!!! Yay!!! Thankyou so much for your help.

If you ever feel that these 3rd party tools can harm your computer, this is the best tool. Description of the Windows Installer CleanUp Utility

Indeed, these application can harm registry, if one don't know what to do. That's why you can find there few uninstall modes like automatic, semi or manual. When you proceed with care in manual mode, you can get rid of all traces of software that was left by automatic one. ;)
