Problems with Internet Explorer 7.0

I am running Vista 64 bit with service pac 1 (came on my hp computer purchased in august 2008)

Several times a week when I am on the internet, the page starts to fade out and then a window pops up telling me something to the effect that I need to close or wait as it is not responding. Sorry didn't write down the exact wording. Bottom line I have to keep logging off the Internet and then come back in because it never corrects itself if I sit there and wait and wait and wait.

Thanks

thanks so much. Resetting is my last resort, been there done that!

I do wonder if "Java" could be a problem? When my virus protection runs (Kaspersky 2009 Internet) runs, I have been getting a warning about Java.

vulnerablity Viruslist.com - Sun Java JDK / JRE Multiple Vulnerabilities
c:\\windows wow64/java.exe.

Tells me very dangerous.

There is another Java that is an issue as well...Jrel.6.0_01 blah blah

I made a post on the Kaspersky board and then told me to dump Java and reinstall. I have read other places that Java can be an issue on Vista 64 bit. I don't want to do something I am going to regret so I am making this post here too. I am really wondering if Java might be my issue on the explorer????? It does not happen all the time, just a few times a week.

One more thing: when I am on the explorer and do the following: tools, options, programs and use the drop down menu "add ons that run without requiring permission" there are many things duplicted there. Example:
Jave Plug In 1.6.0_01 (ssv.dll). So maybe this is all tied together, Kaspersky warning about Java, and explorer is effected?

Sorry I didn't think that is might be tied together, thus I am adding this to my post. Hope this does not make things confusing. I am not very computer savy in the tech end of things.

today I uninstalled Java and did a new installe, ran my virus scan and no security threats were detected. So that issue is resolved. However when trying to get to my home page, it didnt' want to load and get the annoying window giving me the 3 options, to end program, wait , and can't remember the other one. I ended and so thus I still have the same problem. I don't think it is an add on. I need to start making a list to see it seems to be at the same web sites. MSN seems to be one of them sometime, that I know for sure.

Try running IE with no add-ons.
