problem with videos

I have been having it since some time ago. My PC has Vista, 2.6 dual Intel, 2Gb Ram, 320Gb hard drive, intel onboard graphics and sound.
When I watch Videos, eg on youtube, the sound is ok, but the videos are breaking, what I mean is every a few seconds or so there's a like short pause, when picture freezes for like half second or even less. The sound is not affected, just the picture- it looks like i was quickly pressing pause and play for this half second, apart from the fact that after this half second video is not when i paused but this half second later, which means it is still in time with the sound.
I tried deleting temps, I reinstalled my Vista with recovery option, I deleted windows.old, so i released space on disc. And its on back again, maybe a bit better, the breaks happen more rarely, but still do.
What reason may it be?

Does it happen on a different browser?

And, do you have the latest drivers for your intel graphic card? What about Flashplayer?

This normally happens to me when i've open and close way too many tabs. I normally 'fix' it by deleting my browser cookies and cache - Firefox. And after a few hours more of opening and closing hundreds of tabs, it happens again and i just delete them once more.

Also sometimes it might happen when you have something running in the background such as AV update/scan, downloads and such.

hey
I do have the latest drivers.
Flashplayer as well.
yeah, I usually run a few tables at the same time. It amy be the reason. The processes in the background as well could be, but I dont know which ones, before reinstallation I turned off nearly all of them, including antivir.

The thing is- I've always worked on a few tabs, had lots of programs, but the problem started a few months ago.

I will test all the steps you say anyway.
