Problem with software downloads

Can't download software ..when I download and open I get an error saying (Another installation is in progress you must complete that installation before continuing this one .. I can't find any other program being installed !!! Is there a way to clear the windows installer ??? thanks

Must be an uncommon problem.. 10 have veiwed with no comment any experts out there that can help ???? thanks poppy

It means another installer hasn't finished intalling, have you tried restarting your computer.

MANSRM81 Thanks for the reply, yes I have restarted a bunch of times can't find anything that is even remotely close to installing..I have even went back a week and did a system restore.. I am at my wits end....

Have you looked at the task manager and see if there is anything unusual running that shouldn't be, Have you scanned for viruses and spyware. Also go into the control panel/ administrative tools then event viewer and see if there are any errors.

Mansrm81 Like to think you for answering my questions..Just for your information I found the fix for the stuck windows installer,Just in case you run into it again...guess it is quite common in vista if your downloading and for some reason stop and cancel the download..The installer sometimes doesn't release it from the registry...here goes:
Error 1500. Another installation is in progress. You must complete that installation before continuing.
When you click Retry , the message displays again. If you click Cancel , the installation stops.
Use the following steps to fix the problem.

1. Cancel the software installation and remove any discs from the computer.
2. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
3. Click the Services tab .
4. Right-click msiserver and select Stop Service .
5. Run the software installation again.
