problem with IE8

Hi.

My problem with IE8 is that when I create a new tab I can't see the thumbnails. All I see is three green lines with options under them. The lines are:
Reopen closed tabs
Browse with InPrivate
Use an Accelerator


What shall I do to restore the thmbnails?

It sounds like this problem can be solved by clearing your icon cache (Thumbnail Cache - Clear and Reset - Windows 7 Forums).

Just so we can have a better look at what the problem could be could you please upload a screenshot of Internet Explorer to see if it could be anything else.

Hopefully the icon cache clear will fix the problem.

Post back with any results.

Sorry I'm confused now, which thumbnail do you mean?

This page that opens is normal and to be expected.

Were you expecting something else, such as your recent Google search history or something?

I usually when I create a new tab, there are six squares which contains thumbnails of site I visited before. But now I see the page I sent to you rather than the six squares. Clear?

IOW, when I create a new tab, I always have someting similar to this image although this is not IE8 but gives you an idea for what I am asking for.

Google new tab feature is not available in IE8 anymore,unfortunately.

What a shame, I didn't know that.

Google really need to get their priorities straight though.

Do they want you on Chrome or Firefox?

I think IE8 must have told Google not to intrude in to their territory and Google obliged. I'm hoping that IE9 will come up with similar facility in a different form.

Safari has did something excellent. This will appear when you create a new tab.
