Problem with IE

My IE has some how been corrupted and now will not work no matter what i do, is there a way i can delete it and re install it? I have admin access and it still would not let me delete ie from my pc?

Questions first;

  • Which version of IE are you using?
  • Have you tried to do a System Restore to an earlier point before the instability issue?
  • Have you tried to go to Start>Control Panel>[Classic View] Programs and Features>Windows Live Essentials, and either tried to carry out a Repair or Uninstall from there? [just select your choice of radio button, and follow the prompts]
  • What Anti-Spyware/ Anti-Malware/ Anti-Virus scans have you done?

In addition to what sassfalco suggested, you could try resetting IE as well. Tools-> Internet Options-> Advanced tab and reset.

It can be turned off and replaced with another broswer of your choice, eg, chrome or FF.

To turn off type turn window features on and off. You will then be able to uncheck IE 8. If you decide on this option be sure to have another browser or you will have to turn it back on to download the browser of your choice.

Great to see that all worked out fine r6biker.

As a matter of interest, did you give Firefox a try? If you have installed it as an alternative browser, I have a great guide, without peer, for installation and set-up. I used it in my set-up, and for the past 15 months, not one freeze or crash!
