Hello,
I am having the same problem while I am installing GRE Bible from a downloaded installer on my HP Notebook with Vista Home Premium 64-bit OS. I have tried ur method but its not working still giving me same error during installation "Error occurring while registering the file C:/Windows/system32/Flash.ocx". And if I ignore and then try to run it. It says "Run-time Error 70 :Permission Denied".
Plz help me solve this problem as I really want to run this software badly.
Thanks in Advance

Re: problem installing GRE bible

Hello again!

Sorry about having to go through those formalities. But, you have got me anyway! Can I please confirm that you have run this as an Administrator, by right clicking on it, and choosing as such. You must do this, even if you are not an Administrator.

What format was the download in? How big is it?

Thanks!

Hi
Its No Problem. Ya I am the administrator. Yes I run it by right clicking on it. It was in .rar, but I extracted it. Its about 5MB

My Computer

When you extract the .rar file, what fomats are the files that come out? Is it just one .exe? This is more important than you may think :)

No there are more than one
1. The setup file in .exe
2. Another file .lst format
3. One in .txt format
4. Another file .INF format
5. And the last one in .rar from which it extract when installing

My Computer

Download, install, and run 7-Zip. Navigate to the folder where these file are extracted to. Right click on the extracted .exe, and select Open Inside. You will see some more files. Please tell me if these files have sensible names are extensions, or blatantly not.

Can you also please tell me to which directory this is installed, and whether this directory contains flash.ocx if you ignore the error, otherwise I will search for it.

Thanks!

The default directory where it is being installed is C:\Program Files(x86)\Gre Bible\. I don't think so it has flash.ocx. When I search flash.ocx it gives SETUP.lst as its search result which is one of the file extracted from the downloaded file???
I have already extracted it with WinRAR and when I right click on the extracted .exe file namely setup.exe there is no such option as Open Inside. If you can guide me or kindly elaborate what do I have to do I would be duly thankful to you.

Thanking you
Hasan

If you could provide me your e-mail id so that I can talk to you directly about this problem could be solved more conveniently and swiftly. It would be better for me. And also please mention the timing in GMT when you are online and free to chat.

Thank You

I don't know what Rich will say to this, because if you communicate through email then that is private whereas if you commumicate through vista forums, then anybody else who is experiencing the same problem as you will be able to find the solution.

Hello again!

I am very sorry Hasan. I cannot offer email support. I should however, be able to give more timely replies from now on. Two things to do:

ONE:

Install 7-zip. Open it from the shortcut, not by double clicking on a file or anything like that. It will open at Computer, and display your drives. Double click on C:\, and then using this method, browse to the folder where you extrcted the .rar to. You will now see the setup.exe file, or whatever it is called. Right click on it (from within 7-zip) and select Open Inside. You should now see the files within the setup .exe file.

If you need to, go within a few folders, to find the files. They will either have really long, meaningless names, and no file extensions, or be proper files with sensible names, and file extentions. Please tell me which sort. Thanks!

TWO:

Download OTL to your Desktop

  • Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed and to let it run uninterrupted.
  • Under the Custom Scan box paste this in

    C:\|flash.ocx;true;true;true /FP
  • Click the None button, followed by Scan. The scan wont take long.
    • When the scan completes, it will open OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
    • Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of this file, and paste it here.
Thanks!

My Computer

Hello again!

That was correct. There was not supposed to be an extras.txt. Mistake in instructions. Please open an elevated Command Prompt: http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/181765-elevated-command-prompt.html

Now type regsvr32 flash.ocx and press enter. Report the error message shown please. Please make sure that BEFORE you do this, the program has been installed, and the error ignored.

Thanks!

Hi
The error message being displayed after installation and ignoring the error of the setup.exe and then typing regsvr32 flash.ocx in command prompt is:

The module "flash.ocx" failed to load

Make sure the binary is stored at the specified path or debug it to check for problems with the binary or dependent .DLL files.

The specified file could not be found.

What next???
Thanks in Advance
Hasan

Now, regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\flash.ocx from the Command Prompt, and report the error message. Thanks!
