I've had my Vista 64 bit laptop printing to HP LJ1200 previously using a Dell 8200 (back almost 4 years).
I now have an HP XP Pro desktop and have almost the same set up.
PREVIOUSLY the printer was connected to a print server that was connected to the desktop. The desktop was wirelessly networked and I had to keep that computer on in order to print. I could print from any computer in the house.
Now have an HP desktop, XP Pro. Printer is again connected to the print server, however, the PS is now on the network. Other XP computers can see the printer and print. I can see the printer and it won't print. It just sits in the cue with an error.
The printer on the PS is shared. Yet when I try to make the connection, the printer is on the list of printers using PCL5 (6 didn't work in the past) yet it will not connect.
Do I have to change the set up back to having the printer connected to the desktop and leave the desktop on all the time again? I was trying to avoid that.
HELP! Thanks.
Joanne
