Printer Drivers

I have a Dell 531S Desktop with Vista Home Premium and 3gb of memory.

I installed Drivers for two printers:

1. HP Desjet 3650 (Vista has this driver)
2. Epson Stylus CX4200 (downloaded vista drivers from Epson)



I can NOT get either printer to print. I could use some help on this.

Since installing the drivers, the computer has slowed to a dead crawl. IT takes forever to open any program including the browsers.

I don't have clue what 56 processes are running and the only thing showing cpu usage is the taskmanager.

I sure could use some help solving these issues.

Hi,

Please cancel the current print as displayed & the reboot. this should recover the system performance.

Now we/ I need more informatin on the installed drivers make, model & driver source.

So, what drivers do you have & where did you get them from:-
Manufacturers CD? Download? or other???

The more information you can provide the better answer you should/ will get. OK?

I have rebooted several times and that did NOT change anything. I still can NOT print from either printer and the system is still extremely slow.

The drivers for the HP Deskjet 3650 are included in Vista's drivers.

The drivers for the Epson Stylus CX4200 I downloaded from Epson as an .exe file.

I don't know anyother info I can provide about the drivers.

I have never heard of legit drivers slowing down the computer. So I will start with I do not know what you put on your computer.
Run a full anti virus scan
Download and run a full scan with the free malwarebytes.
If negative, run a clean boot to find the cause of the slowdown

We will then try to get you the correct drivers.

You can try to run updates on avast and check, if it fixes it. Or try to run a boot time scan to see if there is any infections.

As far as the printer is concerned then can u tell us whats the error were you getting when you tried to print, anything like "communication not available". Or try to turn off the shields in Avast and then try to print.

As far as the CPU usage is concerned then try to do an MS-Config for these 2 applications:

1) Digital Line Detection (Disable it in case you are not using a dial up modem, or sending faxes directly from the modem on the system.)

2) Paint Shop Pro (Disable it in case you are not using the software that often.)
