Pop3 gmail and Vista

I'm having problems. I have followed the setup instructions completely. I cannot get my pop mail account to work with my laptop Vista. I keep getting an error message that reads:

The connection to the server has failed. Subject 'Test', Account: 'pop.gmail.com, 'Server: 'smtp.gmail.com', Protocol:SMTP, Port 465, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Also error message:

The connection to the server has failed, Account: 'pop.gmail.com', Server: 'pop.gmail.com', Portocol: POP3, Port 995, Secure(SSL): Yes, Socket Error: 10060, Error Number: 0x800CCC0E

Any suggestions?

Hi Lana, I had the same problem when i opened a gmail account for my wife if you click on the blue link it will take you to a tutorial to enable gmail within windows mail, it is the same process if you use outlook. just dont forget to do step 1 to enable pop in your gmail account first
