.PNG Files Do Not Display in IE7

My computer has three user accounts - all set up as admins. One of the three accounts is not able to display .PNG files in IE7. The other two accounts display fine. I have tried the registry fix listed on the Winhelp site (which resets the .png file and registry settings - got the unable to complete message because of open processes message). I also compared the contents of the .reg file with the registry hives using regedit and everything matched. I have also tried turning off UAC without any success. I have also tried changing the file associations through the Open With procedure and the Control Panel -> Default Programs settings for .png file extensions.

Are there any other suggestions? This problem only started last week. There have been no installs in that time period on the computer.

Thanks,
Peter

Update to IE 8 if that does not work

Could be an add on
Go To tools
internet options
advanced reset
This removes addons
If that does not work

Try going back with a system restore see if that helps.

Finally open and use a new user account.

Rich46,

I misidentified the user accounts with the problem - only 1 of 3 users are displaying .PNG files correctly. Does this change your recommendation? I am assuming that I should try your recommendations in the order that you listed - IE8 upgrade, addins reset, system restore?

Hi Peter,
I would say even with your new information, using my suggestions may help.
I have little hope for a new account, however.
