Hello Robert,
The problem you are having is common and easily fixed.
The reason your system stops responding is because when plan3D accesses your video card to turn on 3D – your video card stops (malfunctions) due to the video card "driver" being out of date. This was caused by one of the many recent automatic Microsoft Window updates and is easy to fix.
Updating the video card driver fixes the problem, is free and only takes a few minutes. For simple instructions to update your driver click this:

I'm new to your program, and have been unable to open the main window as shown in Fig 2 of Getting started. I have Toshiba Satellite P105 Laptop, Vista Home Premium, 1GB RAM 32 bit file system, display adapter Mobile Intel 945 GM Express Chipset, Auto Udate on continuously. I have to start program from C:\Program Files\Plan3D\Floorplanner\Plan3D.exe. No Icon was provided by install. Are you saying I need anothr gig of RAM? A blank main page shows up with Directory of add on items listed along right edge. Canned home design can be displayed. I want to import my floor plan and 3D it. Any help? Have seen some other Laptop Vista posted forum msgs with similar sounding problems, not solved.
