Photo Gallery Not Responding

PG has won't respond. I have gone to the MS tutorial and tried renaming...did not work. I have also read there might be some sort of bad web address somewhere in a file, but cannot find this. I have pulled my hair out over this one. I have Photo Gallery, not Live Photo Gallery.

Hello SimplyE, and welcome to Vista Forums.

Without knowing the exact error messages you may be getting, you might try running a sfc/ scannow command for now to see if it can find and fix any bad system files that may be the cause of your problem.

If that does not help, then you can do a System Restore using a restore point dated before this problem to try and fix it.

Thanks. A while back, I did a System Restore with no luck. I just did the sfc /scannow in the "run" menu, and did not come up with anything. Is this where I should run it?

Would I be better to download and try the Live version? I don't know anything about it.

That would be fine to run it from the RUN box.

When you try to run the C:\Program Files\Windows Photo Gallery\WindowsPhotoGallery.exe file, do you get any error messages?

You can try the Windows Live Photo Gallery to see if it will run for you instead. You can read up on it's features at these two links:

It said that "Windows Cannot find 'sfc/scannow' "

No error message. It did not do anything.

You can try the Windows Live Photo Gallery to see if it will run for you instead.

I downloaded Live and got the same error "not responding" with live.

What a royal pain in the butt!

Well, short of doing a clean reinstall of Vista, you can try a repair (upgrade) install to try and fix this problem.
