Personal computing in the future: of mice and keyboards

We've all read about it at some point within the past year or two, what with the proliferation of tablets, Windows 8, etc.: "The PC is dead!" "DEATH to the mouse and keyboard!" "Anyone who prefers to use a mouse and keyboard on a PC that has anything less than the latest-and-greatest Windows 8 on it is an idiot who refuses to accept change!"

That's what some people wish - but it's not going to happen. And anyhow, if it comes to tablets and smartphones, that is Android territory (plus a bit of Apple). So MS better think of something else than Windows 8.

i still prefer using mouse and keyboard with video output to large screen tv however the keyboard and mouse need overhauls as input device for the htpc environment i have a lenovo n5901 and thats good but not perfect but still prefer it to the concept of getting up every 5 seconds to touch my living room tv screen to operate it. so while i think touch screens have a place i dont think the keyboard and mouse are dead yet..
