Solved Pentium 4 SL7E3 dual core?

Hi. im upgrading my silly single core cpu to another 478 processor. But i want dual core. I hear there are some p4s running 2 cores but when i look they only say: Cores 1 threads 2. WTF is this. was the 2 cores thing a lie


PLZ HELP i cannot run my games on a intel celeron 2.4GHz with 1.25GB ram and ATI HD 3650 1GB AGP.

I AM SURE THE PROCESSORS SLOWING ME DOWN

The 1 core 2 threads is the P4 hyperthreading. Dual cores came with the 775 pentium Ds

I think its almost time to get a new tower parts.. AMD can be built for bout $400 without reusing the old stuff, less with recycling.

Those sockets are sooo old, there are some RARE and silly expensive 478 socket out that might help you, but then your board might not support the speed of the FSB.

Sorry get back your $300 and I get you a Celeron dual core that are easy on the wallet. ($50-$60)

well i bought 3 items

I got a new graphics card 1GB hd3650, a sound card, and a dvd drive.

$300 total. REMEMBER IM IN NEW ZEALAND SO CURRENCY IS DIFFERENT. eg $20 american is $30 New Zealand. so parts for americans is cheaper in a kind of view.

Besides i cant get a new machine. I love my old one. Im starting to think its slow cuz of my 300w psu and everything else reccomends 350w-up. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I dont have much money.

Yha I just looked at a couple places, and an x2 is $120 and a mobo is $100 plus.

If you do upgrade the psu, go to about 500W, that way the moneys not wasted on parts that will be ungood for the future.

Well I think you MAX out your RAM and CPU, so with this new GPU maybe you will be happier and gain a little performance. How about maxing out your hard drive for something that writes and read faster??

Unless of course you can invent your own CPU that's a dual core! Djk
