Maybe somebody could tell me what I should turn off on this PC? Its my wifes PC, it's an AMD XP3000+ with 1Gb of memory and a nvidia 7600 agp card and I believe it has an 80Gb EIDE HDD in it.
This box has been running fine since January. Only thing outside of the norm running is avast and a couple side bar items ( gmail checker, clock, wireless signal strength and the weather). Other than that everything is else is at windows default.
So what's happening it it starts up slow .. then it studders .. then it just freezes.
Granted its not the speedy machines of today .. but I shouldn't be functioning like this!
This list of ideas can help improve the performance of your computer for you. In your case, I would be sure to check the startup programs to see if there are any that you do not want or need that can be disabled or removed. Adding at least another 1 Gb of RAM will help you out a lot.
I know the memory would help. But, the memory for this PC would cost more then current day memory. Go figure that one out! After all this PC is roughly 4 years old.
Kewl! You through that tut in there! That's the bugger I was looking for!
Thanks again! I'll post back and let you know how I mad out!
