Pc Games To Check Out

Anyone have suggestions of really good games worth getting, all I have is COD4 and I was looking at Unreal Tournament as well as Elder Scrolls or WOW. Any pros or cons? Do you recommend a controler or just the mouse with most games? Thanks for the input!

Mouse and keyboard is best for 90% of PC games.

Oblivion is excellent as far as single-player action RPG's go, as WOW is an excellent MMORPG [if you can stomach the monthly cost to play].

If you are considering an Unreal Tournament game, I would strongly suggest UT2004 over UT3. I know it's older than UT3, but it is far superior in regard to game-play and game balance, and imo overall fun and replayability.

Also, if you enjoy COD4 you may take a look at Crysis, another heralded FPS game.

I was looking at Crysis and it seemed awesome, the system requirments looked pretty intense! I also have noticed that my laptop gets pretty hot pretty fast and if you could up the fan speed or add an additional intercooler like with the PS3?

Fan speeds on a laptop should be automatic... Unless the heat is cuasing actual problems [lock-ups, artifacts, etc.] I would not worry about it.

Of course your laptop is going to get hot, think about how much processing power has been crammed into a case the size of a book!

the upcoming battlefield sounds promising.. i heard its been compared as cod on crack..

and crysis is good.. didnt really have a good oportunity to try it out, played briefly at mates place, but it was running too laggy due to his specs it wasnt much enjoyable when things start to move around you, fps drops to about 5-10

The controls depend on what type of game you'll be playing on your PC. For MMO(RPG), and FPS games, keyboard and mouse no doubt. But i prefer to use my 360 controller on flight sims and racing games. If you are into racing, I've played the demo for Grid and it has been a lot of fun. The graphics are really nice and although its not a full on sim like Gran Turismo, it's a very fun arcade type of racing. I love the Half Life series, the story is excellent and the graphics look really nice too even for being an old game. Take a look over at Gamespot for user reviews on the latest PC games, that's pretty much how I've chosen my games all the time.

Happy gaming :P

Good game to get is tomb raider legend, & anniversary as well. They look loads better on the pc. Ive had legend for a year now i think & im still unlocking bits & pieces & with tr8 on its way. These do play better with a controller. Gears of war is hilarious fun, Ive only seen it but for pc its miles better. Company of heroes is a decent rts as well.

Crysis is a great game. I'm playing it again on a new build, and now I can enjoy it in a higher resolution. Good story, great gameplay, amazing graphics.

As far as your laptop goes, I believe there are after-market fans that you can mount near the CPU fan underneath the laptop. I used to have a desktop P4 (when they first came out) in a laptop and it would get really hot, so either way, I wouldn't rest it on your lap.

You want an excellent game to check out, if you haven't already played it for the XBOX 360, grab a copy of the PC version of Mass Effect. I'm playing it right now on my system.

I'm a sucker for Age Of Conan. It's a MMORPG (50 euros the game with 30 days gameplay included and then it's a 13euro monthly fee)

assasins creed is very good and crysis but they are better with a 360 controller then mouse and kb

I had Assasins Creed for PS3 - the graphics are amazing, but gameplay gets a little repetitive, IMO. As far as controller goes, keyboard and mouse work just fine for Crysis.

I kinda liked the Race Driver GRID demo as well - the mechanics seemed a lot more realistic, although some of the crashes I made in the Muscle car series would have torn up cars I know- still, with me going gaga over the new Challenger, and knowing that it is a beast of a car, weighing in at over 2 tons, I realize that it is not going to be easy to really tear the car up.

WOW. Any pros or cons?

Been playing WoW since about 2 weeks after it's initial release so might be able to help :)

There is a trial floating about that gives you the full game for 10 days but cuts a lot out. Max level 20, no auction house ect. Try it but dont base much on it.

Up to 20 your in the starter areas and tbh the game starts for real after that. For 10 and 25 player dungeons the game does not start until level 70 so a 10 day trial wont show much.

Best thing to do is download the trail and register a free account, you get access to the forums then so look in there. The newcomers section has great people who will answer most questions about it.

If you want a graffix intense game buy Everquest 2. It has a great storyline and graffix wont max out ever. It gives a warning that computers cannot handle max settings yet. Its an MMORPG but looks real life.

Just tried the Devil May Cry 4 demo to see how it ran on the PC.

Use a 360 pad and you laughing. Great way to switch off the brain and have a blast. One of the much better console ports in a long time.
