over clocking a video card

Would over clocking it when your turn on the computer and then before you turn off your computer you put it back to factory settings screw it up???? or what

The reason i ask is because when i turn off my computer it gives me the BSOD then the card goes back to factory settings but i can play the OC version of the card when my computer stays on any suggestions?

You should go to your BIOS and OC it there...
You did it with EVGA Precision or something similar, right?

It's those new beta models... you know, the ones now made by Extreme 3DFX

At any rate overclocking is done at the software level by the user. If your card keeps resetting from being overclocked, it's either too much, or, which you obviously see, the overclocking program you use is not saving your settings when you shut down. Tone down the overclock and look to see if your settings can be saved during shutdowns. Also, not that i'm an expert, but what program are you using to OC your card? Is it Vista compatible?

yeah norm just told me about a 9600gt over clocking is very little so yeah lol
