os wont start

hello all,
need help. my vista os wont start after a power blink while the sys config was updating. it wont start normally, in safe mode or using disk. any thoughts on how to fix this?

Do you have a Recovery Disk?

If not follow this Tutorial using another Tutorial then Boot into this disk and enter your Details then Select Repair my Computer in the Bottom Left hand Corner

Then select Startup Repair and if that doesn't work go into Command Prompt and enter the following:

bootrec.exe /fixboot

Then press enter

Now enter this:

bootrec.exe /fixmbr

And press enter,

Now try and boot into Windows

i tried but computer wont boot from disk either. i figured out that it keep hanging on crcdsk. i can get it to boot form disk if i disconnect the hd but, when i reconnect it it wont reconize the drive.

You need to change your BIOS settings to boot to CD First see your Manufacturers Quick guide for Details

i tried that. still getting black screen. now also getting diskette drive 0 seek failure.

Check your manual and see how you could restore factory specs.

finally figured it out. hard drive was fried. thank you for your help.

Sorry that the problem was the hard drive (hope you did not lose anything) but glad that you did solve the problem.
