operating system not found. vista to xp help

OK i have 2 question on my 2 year old Sony Vaio VGN-NR120E pre installed with vista and on Saturday i opened my laptop and an era meg. saying operating system not found. i am not really sure what this mean and how it happend but if you caould help me and tell me what i can do to help it out also when i fix it i also would like to know how to switch from vista to xp bc i hate vista if you can help plz help me out thanks for all your help.)

Welcome Joseph16, I don't really know what an "era meg" is as I am not hip with the text lingo but, If you want to load XP instead of Vista, why don't you just do that and forget about whether or not vista loads?

So I should not worry about trying to fix vista and just try to get xp and load xp on it

I think era meg = error message.

If you really want to go back to XP:

You need to check your machine manufacturers website and see if they have XP drivers.

If they do , download them and copy to cd.

If they do not - you are out of luck.
