Things are going to be fun the next couple of days. There may be the chance I wont be able to get online until Wednesday.

Before you all blow a gasket it was the only choice I had where I live to get a decent broadband.

I ordered BT Total Broadband, it was supposed to happen today but by 2.30 pm the equipment hadn't arrived so I phoned them, the man was very apologetic but someone had made a balls up with the date and got it that the line would be activated next month

OK the earliest he could get my hub to me was Wednesday but the line would be activated today according to the paper work I had received  just after 2 pm I get an email telling me my line is now activated enjoy my BT Broadband. I'm still connected but of course this is through my router which is all configured for my old ISP  I connect via Ethernet cable and my husband connects via wireless.

I'm thinking that we'll switch the machines off tonight and wont be able to connect when starting up tomorrow, I don't switch the router off at night just the computers.

Anyway if you don't see me for a couple of days you know why, I'll see you on the other side

Well, hopefully your old provider will still work until they get you fully switched over with the new equipment. If not, we'll see when you can. :)

Take care.

You're lucky then, I live in a small coastal village with no library or anything else for that matter, plus I don't own a laptop, and it's only the last couple of years that the lines have been broadband enabled.

Anyway it doesn't matter now as I'm now hooked up to my new router with a service that completely blows the last one out the water as far as I'm concerned ;)

Nice to see the smaller towns getting a better service.

It is, I think the main reason that we were done was because the Army have a base in the next village plus a training camp a couple of miles further down the road so pressed BT to enable the lines even though they hadn't reached the target number of people who had requested it.

It's a bit like gas we don't have that here but the villages surrounding us are all on mains gas.

Seems to be a nationwide thing giving people better Internet connections. A friend of mine who lives in the middle of nowhere was stuck with 1Mbps broadband for god knows how long, but last week he got a letter saying it was being upped to 8Mbps.

BT are a joke when it comes to activating the line. When I moved in to my current house, they said it would take 6 weeks...rang them a week later to complain and they said 3 weeks, which was a bit more better I suppose.

I'll have to dig out my speed test results to show but I know before it was only about ½ mb and now it's over 3 mb.

The test with the new service isn't a true one as the line hasn't settled yet but we've certainly noticed the difference.
