so I changed my monitor refreshment rate from 60 to 85.. now all i get is an error screen and I have no idea what to do. i was told to reset the whole cpu, but i have so many datas that i can't lose... somebody help me out please!!!

Hello Heejunee, and welcome to Vista Forums.
You should be able to boot into Safe Mode, then change the screen refresh rate back. Afterwards, restart the computer to see if you still get this error.

Ok, see if you may be able to boot in the Advanced Boot Options screen at startup and select the Enable Low Resolution Video (640 X 480) option. If it lets you boot, then you can change the screen refresh rate back.

so the safe mode would only make the computer reboot itself... and i tried booting in low resolution, and it worked for about 2 and a half seconds until the error screen popped up again.

You might see if doing a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before the refresh rate was changed to see if it can fix this for you then.

um.. right now, i am using a laptop of someone else's and my computer, the one with the problem does not have any access to the start menu. therefore i find it impossible to try system restore at the moment.
