Office 2007

Well, my College has finally started and I am running my glorious 64 bit edition of windows Vista. I am pretty tech savvy and have never really gone to IT to get help as i usually just search the problem my self on the handy dandy google and/or fix it myself. One thing I am lacking right now is Microsoft Office. I went go buy it but every thing said it was the 32x CD for office installation so i was wary of buying it and installing because if it doesn't work my college computer department will be like "bummer" and I'm stuck with a useless copy of Office. I've been reading around with little avail and am really unsure as to if Office 2007 will run properly on vista. I have heard there isn't a native version of office for 64 bit computers and and have also heard that in Jan Office 2008 will have that included. Just wondering if anyone else has office running on their vista64 and how well it works before i leap into purchasing it. Right now I am going to use Open Office until the 2008 release unless I hear otherwise. Thanks.

Don't know about Office 2008, but I'm running Office 2007 with no problems. With school, I would only be concerned with backwards compatibility with other Office users. For instance, in Power Point, there are some new features that can be viewed by previous versions but not edited. So if you are sharing work, this could be an issue. Other than that, 2007 and x64 are a match made in heaven (minus a few obscure tools that don't work in x64).
