Not working at all

Long time looker, first time asking for help

Last night, I turned my laptop off fine (there were 6 items to get installed by windows - i didn't think nothing of it as almost everyday there is something to be installed)

When i tried to turn it on this morning it wasn't starting.

It went straight to the silver screen of what repairs I could do which didn't work.
I went into safe mode but that wasn't loading and went to the silver screen again.
I tried a system recovery and that didn't work either.

I was going to do a factory reset but i thought I'd ask you guys first

Regards

jimmy

Try pressing these keys at boot. Press them quickly and many times.
You will lose your stuff and the computer will be like the day you took it home
No updates, SPs etc
Ctrl + F11 or F8 - Access Dell computers Dell System Restore (DSR) partition on many
Try just f11, too.

In your first post you mentioned a factory reset. To me that means using the restoration partition that is already on your computer (installed by Dell). If you have another way to access it, feel free. The only way that I know is using the method that I gave you. To help me and the other members, please tell us about another method if one is available. Do you mean the Discs that came with the computer?

Hi guys

Sorry i took so long to get back to you. I went back home and a good friend of mine is a bit of a wizz kid with computers. He said some how the OS had bee wiped off the HDD. So I bought a copy of Windows 7. I had no disks with the laptop - I got it 3 years ago and if I did have disks then I would have binned them while moving home 2 years ago

Anyway, sorry about the delay again !
