$100!!?? your kidding right?
You must have got the 2-year, because the 1-year subscription of Version 3 is only $59 (2-year is $114), and the annual renewal is $69. But then again you're in Australia, maybe it just costs more there? that is way too expensive considering Norton 360 provides mediocre protection-It didnt do to well in recent antivirus/antimalware testing (alot of false positives, and poor hueristic detection of new and emerging threats). Dont get me wrong though, Norton is an excellent product with an excellent detection rate of "known" malware and viruses, but there are better, and cheaper ones out there. Check out the Vista SP1 Antivirus performance lab test results below.

You would be better off using something like Avira Premium (19,50/39,95 Euro), or Eset NOD32 4.0 (on par with Avira Pro/Premium which is the best on the market). Smart Security is $59, but I just use NOD32 4 Antivirus/Antimalware ($39), and my annual renewal is $27 - with free product upgrades when new versions are released. Coupled with UAC, Windows firewall and Windows Defender you are about as well protected as you would be with a full Security Suite.

Good Luck on your Norton 360- I would contact them regarding your validation issue ASAP.

Hi Rive0108,

When I say I payed $100,It is equal to
$59 (cos I'm in NZ so US$59 is NZ$100).:D.

I'm not actually not installing it on my computer, I'm installing on a friends(they payed for it). I use Kaspersky on my laptop.

I still don't see why it's not installing though.

I think I'll just ring symantec or try and get our money back.

We contacted symantec about the problem and a guy remotely tried to fix the problem, but he couldn't fix it.I tried downloading it via a torrent which came in the form of a .rar file. I downloaded winrar to extract the files, but winrar was corrupt I tried 7zip That was also corupt and so were two more files I downloaded. I'm starting to suspect a Virus is in the computer.:confused:

I don't know what to do.

I think you have Windows corruption issues- not viral. ( but you can always try this:http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/) (http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/WelcomePage.asp)

There is one problem- registry cleaners/optimizers are nortorious for corrupting Windows. They cannot distinguish between legitimate and unwanted entries.

what cleaner/optimizer are you using?

I would also run a system file check through the command prompt

sfc /scannow

Hello Rive,
I am yet to try those solutions.I have this problem where when i plug my flashdrive into the computer with trouble, it creates an autorun.inf and svchost.exe file on the flash drive. When i Delete the files it automatically comes back about 10 seconds later.Nod32 finds it as a virus and points to Userdata\roaming\microsoft\svchost.exe as the cause of the problem. I think this is a virus.?:(

I use NOD32 4, and it is pretty reliable. If it reports malware, chances are thats what it is.
